Piramal Haveli, Baggar, Rajasthan.

Piramal Haveli, Baggar, Rajasthan.

A nice quiet time is something many of us look forward to when we decide to take a trip out of the city and many of us look for the exact same (yes, trust me) to usher in a new year too!
After a lot of searching, as most resorts would share with me (with lot of excitement) about the “DJ nights”, they had planned out for the guests for New Year’s Eve, not knowing, that is exactly what I was not looking forward to and dying to run away from the cacophony of the city life!
Finally, I zeroed in on spending the last day of 2016 and the first of 2017 in Piramal Haveli, Baggar, Rajasthan.
A decision I definitely do not regret. It was a beautiful and relaxing stay, in the lap of great Rajasthani hospitality.
The Piramal Haveli is an impressive Rajasthani structure with Italianate influence.
It is a Heritage property, which was built in 1928, having a large open garden and two pillared courtyards painted with colorful kitsch frescoes of flying angels, airplanes, and gods in motor cars, the paintings are pretty appealing though something that one might not expect to see in a traditional Rajasthani setup.
One can find innumerable number of the majestic National bird of India, the peacock, walking around in the property, surely this too adds to the feel of the bygone era.
Other than the excellent stay in the beautiful Haveli with the added benefit of great Rajasthani cuisine, one can discover the quiet villages strewn all around, taking walks, interacting with the locals, shopping for tit-bits, lakh bangles, Rajasthani sarees, dupattas and jootis. The experience could be an adventure in itself!
Overall, this was a very satisfying stay. Hope this short but wonderful trip initiates me to the discovery of the quaintest Shekhawati region in the coming years.

Added information

The Piramal Haveli, serves mainly vegetarian food. I believe, the hotel does provide otherwise but on special request. Do clarify when making bookings!

The Piramal Haveli is located at a distance of 210 kms from Delhi.
Takes approximately 5 hours from Delhi by road. It is advised to take the Rewari road, though it is bit longer but the road conditions are better.
Leaving early from Delhi also makes sense as then one can avoid the Gurugram traffic.
